What is Baja SAE?

Baja SAE is a collegiate design series competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The competition challenges students to design and build a rugged all-weather, single-seater, off-road vehicle to compete on the roughest terrain.

The competition consists of static events (business, cost, and design), dynamic events (acceleration, maneuverability, suspension & traction, and either hill climb or sled pull), and culminates in a 4-hour wheel-to-wheel endurance race.

No, we accept new members at any time throughout the year. If you missed the callout, just attend a general meeting and speak with a lead after.

Do I need to be studying Mechanical Engineering?

No, students in any major are welcome. You can view our various subteams that stretch beyond engineering under the “our team” page on the website. Attend a general meeting and speak with one of the leads afterwards to get involved with their subteam.

No, any dedicated students who are passionate and willing to learn are welcome!
